Bel Air Estates, the original subdivision of the Bel Air community, is generally bounded by Nimes Road to the north, Sunset Boulevard to the south, Beverly Glen Boulevard to the east and both sides of Bel Air Road to the west.
Bel Air Estates community was founded in 1923 by Alphonzo Bell. He subdivided and developed large residential lots, with work on the master plan led by the landscape architect Mark Daniels. The first estates were completed around 1925. He also built the Bel Air Bay Club in the Pacific Palisades as well as the Bel Air Country Club.
Bel Air Estates offers roughly 80 residences built in a variety of styles in extremely large scale, some of which are the worlds most expensive.
